Every great story begins with a name — and ours began with one that was beautiful, meaningful… and honestly, a little too long to fit on a book cover.

Our full family name, Walker‑Nakonieczny, carries generations of history. But when we started dreaming up a world of children’s books, we realized something: kids don’t need long names to feel the heart behind them. They need something warm, memorable, and full of personality.

So we became The Nak — short, sweet, and perfect for a family building a universe of stories together.

Shane is the steady heartbeat of our home. He’s the one who turns wild ideas into real plans, keeps the creativity flowing, and makes sure every story has a little adventure and a lot of heart.

 

👩 Cassidy — Mom, Storyteller & Dream‑Maker

Cassidy brings the magic. She writes, imagines, photographs, and shapes the worlds our books live in. She’s the creative engine behind Nak’s Children Books, turning everyday family moments into stories that feel mythic, funny, and full of love.

 

👦 Luke — Our Son, Chief Inspiration Officer

Luke is the reason this whole world exists. His curiosity, humor, and big imagination guide every character we create. If a story makes Luke laugh, wonder, or ask for “one more page,” we know we’re on the right track.
